BlackBerry Z10 First Look

This is either beginning or the end for BlackBerry (formerly known as RIM). This is BB10 day, when BlackBerry debuts its smartphone running its latest software. The company’s hopes are resting on this bold new device, and to some extent, a nation’s as well. I’ve been using the BlackBerry Z10, RIM’s flagship BB10 handset, for a week now, and in that time I’ve been putting this new smartphone through its paces.
BlackBerry has come a long way, but BlackBerry still has a very long way to go, and whether or not users will continue to stick around for the remainder of that journey will depend a lot on how fast the app ecosystem can grow.

BlackBerry Launches two smartphones Z10 & Q10 Running on BB10 OS

After lengthy delays, Research In Motion Ltd. unveiled its first two phones with the new BlackBerry 10 system. The Q10 will have a physical keyboard, while the Z10 has only a touch-screen keyboard. RIM also announced a company name change to BlackBerry to maintain a single brand.
Z10                                                      Q10
RIM redesigned the system to embrace the multimedia, apps and touch-screen experience prevalent today. The question is whether there's time for the once-pioneering BlackBerry to catch up to Apple's trend-setting iPhone and devices running Google's Android system.

Hide any iPhone app icon without Jailbreaking

Hide any iOS app icon from the home screen using the Newsstand. If you find yourself interested in hiding icons in an out-of-the-way place, the Newsstand is great because it provides an infinite-sized folder to hold as many apps as you want.
The only catch is that as soon as you reboot your iPhone, the icons will reappear on your home screen. In the meantime, you can access all of the hidden apps using the Search function on your device.
Here are complete instructions on how to hide app icons using the Newsstand without jailbreaking your iPhone:

1. Put all of the apps you're looking to hide in one folder, and make sure that folder is located on the third page of the home screen.

2. Make sure the Newsstand icon is located on the second page of the home screen.

3. Navigate to the third page of the home screen. Quickly press the home button and immediately tap and hold the folder with the apps you're looking to hide. The display will jump to the first page of the home screen, then swipe left to navigate to the second page of the home screen. iOS icons should be in wiggle mode at this point, which means you can touch the Newsstand folderthen press the home button. The folder you were trying to hide should appear on a Newsstand shelf.

4. Reboot your iPhone. That's it, the apps are hidden and cannot even be seen inside the Newsstand folder.

Again, to restore the hidden icons, simply reboot your device and they will reappear on the home screen. According to iDownloadblog this trick is the closest you can get to hiding an app icon without jailbreaking and installing the tweak Poof.

Get Free Popular puzzle game for iOS - Guide the Light

Guide the Light is a popular puzzle game available only on iOS from Appynation and Phasic Labs where the aim is to guide beams of light around puzzle-ridden rooms to the correct coloured gem on a wall.
All in aid to help your archaeologist hero collect jewels and venture deeper beneath mystical pyramids.
Shining light: This game is not about graphics. Rather, simple, pick-up-and-play gameplay
It may sound simple but players will quickly find that this game will stretch your strategic mind to the max.
Early levels ease the player in gently explaining that mirrors must be moved into position to currently guide the beams of light to their correctly coloured gem slot on a wall.
This will retract a door barring the hero’s path allowing him to collect more jewels and move on to the next challenge. Mirrors can be used to deflect both horizontal and vertical light beams however the more puzzles you solve, the more elements you need to master.
Guide the Light gets wickedly difficult. Light-splitting boxes are introduced early on that change a white beam of light into a range of different colours.

Today's Game for iOS is Noble Nutlings ( Bad Piggies Game )

Noble Nutlings is the game Bad Piggies should have been. Put together by former Rovio employees, it's as addictive as you would expect but goes beyond the more staid and slow gameplay of a typical Rovio game.
Noble Nutlings is what happens when the gloves come off and those talented app developers are allowed to run riot. Think of it like Trials Evolution and you'll have a good idea of how it plays. So should you download it?
Noble Nutlings is free on iTunes

The game works on a fairly simple premise. You build a car from parts and then negotiate increasingly difficult tracks while trying to stop your creation from tipping over. You can tilt the car left and right as well as accelerate and boost it. This can be done with on-screen controls or by using the accelerometer. We prefer the on-screenoption.
Parts for your car cost coins, which you acquire by collecting acorns with it during each level - the more acorns, the more coins. Some later levels will be near impossible without the better parts for your vehicle, so you have to invest in getting the most acorns possible from each level before you progress.

There's also the option to buy coins with in-app purchases, but we didn't find it necessary provided we took our time.
The gameplay really is what matters here. Noble Nutlings isn't as complex as Bad Piggies and nor does it quite have the refined tactics of Angry Birds, but this is a very different game. It is exciting and frustrating, built to have you coming back to each level until you get those elusive three stars and every acorn.

Twitter Launched Vine app for iOS - a 6 sec. Video Sharing on Facebook & Twitter

Popular social network Twitter has announced Vine, a new video-sharing application for iOS that shows six-second clips in a loop and posts them to Twitter and Facebook.
Twitter wrote in a blog post. “Like Tweets, the brevity of videos on Vine (6 seconds or less) inspires creativity. Now that you can easily capture motion and sound, we look forward to seeing what you create.”
Vine will compete in the same space as other “Instagram for video” apps like the popular GIF-making app Cinema gram. Twitter acquired Vine before its launch, according to Vine’s blog .
“Our companies share similar values and goals; like Twitter, we want to make it easier for people to come together to share and discover what’s happening in the world,” Vine writes. “We also believe constraint inspires creativity, whether it’s through a 140-character Tweet or a six-second video.”
Twitter said it is working to bring Vine to “other platforms” in the future. We assume that means it’s quickly working on an Android .

App Let’s Stolen Android phones to get Snap of Thieves

Lookout’s Lock Cam will take and send you a photo of the person (or pet) who stole your gadget.
Mobile security software maker Lookout announced a smart-sounding new feature for its Android app today that might help you recover a stolen smartphone or tablet: Once someone tries and fails three times to unlock your password-protected gadget, Lookout Mobile Security will stealthily take and e-mail you a photo of that person and their location.
Lock Cam, the feature will be made available to current Lookout users during the next week,    Lookout said in a blog post Wednesday. Those who use the paid version of Lookout can already access it, the company says.
I’m skeptical that this will help recover many gadgets, but I am hopeful that some pet owners using the Lock Cam feature will soon be getting e-mails containing photos of their dogs and cats (or drunken shots of themselves).

Free Wireless Charging Plate for all AT&T Lumia 920s until Feb 21

Ever since AT&T started exclusively selling the Nokia Lumia 920 in the US, the carrier has been kind enough to offer it bundled with Nokia's Wireless Charging Plate.
Initially, the carrier said the promotion will go on until the end of January, 2013, but now the time-frame of the deal has been extended to February 21.
This is great news for AT&T customers, who want to upgrade to the Lumia 920, but aren't eligible to do so before February. At CES 2013, AT&T mentioned that the Lumia 920 was selling very well, but the promo extension could indicate that the carrier has some trouble shipping all of its available Lumia 920 stock.
For $99.99 (on a 2-year contract), the US carrier is making the Nokia Lumia 920 the obvious choice for the Windows Phone 8 fans in US.

Want to Make Your Body in Shape then This APP is for U - Obstacles XRT

This innovative app, made by Chicago-based Barracuda Partners, turns anywhere with a floor into an obstacle course, no equipment necessary. There are three levels of intensity: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
If you want to up the ante, Obstacles XRT also allows you to compete with friends on the same courses.
"The idea is that we would like users to wear a heart-rate monitor or check their pulse to get a general idea of what their heart rate is, and no matter what difficulty, the challenge is to see who has the lower heart rate," Brian Atz,  Barracuda's chief marketing officer, told Business Insider.

Atz says he uses Obstacles XRT whenever he has the time and the notion. He's always on the road and was sick of doing jumping jacks and sit-ups in his hotel room.
The beginner courses are only 20 minutes including a cool-down and warm-up.
We tested the app ourselves and were thoroughly impressed.
Obstacles XRT is available for the iPhone in Apple's App Store . It's on sale for $1.99 for the rest of January 2013. Barracuda's considering an Android version.

KEYBOARD app by SwiftKey for iOS and Android now updated- fix Bug & Flow Feature Added

The team behind the wildly popular SwiftKey Flow keyboard have just issued a quick update to their VIP community as version 4.0.0.61. In the latest update to the SwiftKey Flow beta you’ll enjoy tons of bug fixes, enhanced features, a better typing experience, and overall better performance. Their keyboard is still in the testing phase but works wonderfully, so read on for the full change log and known issues.
SwiftKey didn’t just update us all with a change log, they went a step ahead and mentioned what’s new, things to be aware of, as well as a full known issues list. All of this has been detailed over at the SwiftKey Flow Blog. One of SwiftKey’s best features is being able to flow not just a word, but an entire sentence without lifting a finger. Then it predicts everything using their prediction engine and even puts in the spaces. Their previous beta if you make a mistake on a word, any word, the entire sentence was lost when you hit backspace — a real bummer.
I can happily confirm they’ve integrated a “save sentence” feature they’re calling Flow-through-space auto commit: if you flow-through space but mess up your last word, all the prior words will be inserted (instead of losing all the words). They’ve fixed that pesky double capitalization issue, fixed memory errors and much more.
Here’s their huge detailed update information:
  • Flow-through-space auto commit: if you flow-through space but mess up your last word, all the prior words will be inserted (instead of losing all the words).
  • Flow in landscape on tablets (not on split layout with numpad).
  • Battery usage improved (when flowing and when not in use).
  • Performance of flowing and tapping improved.
  • Long press of bottom-right (smiley/enter) button now works.
  • Fixed some force close issues.
  • Fixed some memory leaks.
  • Predictions not lost when changing keyboard layout (e.g. to symbols).
  • Fixed Double Capitalization issue.

Samsung shows off phone with a flexible screen at CES-2013

By showing off a phone with a flexible screen, Samsung is hinting at a day when we might fold up our large phone or tablet screens as if they were maps.
The Korean electronics company provided a glimpse of such a device at a keynote speech Wednesday at the International CES gadget show in Las Vegas. It's an annual showcase of the latest TVs, computers and other consumer-electronic devices.
This is a Prototype
How it works: The screen uses organic light-emitting diodes, or OLED's. Only a thin layer of these chemicals is needed to produce a bright, colorful screen. They're used in many Samsung phones already, though with glass screens. For the bendable phone, Samsung laid the chemicals over thin plastic instead of glass. That's a trick you can't pull off with liquid crystals in standard displays.

Most Interesting launch of 2013: 27-inch Windows 8 tablet by Lenovo

Lenovo’s IdeaCentre Horizon is a 27-inch tablet — yes, about triple the diagonal display dimension of a conventional iPad — that has a full suite of inputs and all the functionality of a desktop Windows 8 device, including a front-facing camera, microphone and speakers. When you flip it on its back, however, it clicks into a mode Lenovo calls Aura, and the interface and functionality completely changes to become a multimedia and gaming table. (Those who saw the original Microsoft Surface table from 2007 will be familiar with this concept).
The user interface is a circular ring of buttons in the center of the screen, with labeled tabs like Photos, Games, and so-on. Poke Photos and a ring of thumbnail pictures from your library pop out, which you can scroll through using a finger. Tap one and it’ll spring open and enlarge. You can fiddle with it using a pinch-to-zoom gesture, twist it around using two fingers, scroll through other photos in your collection by swiping, or “throw” the image across the display for someone else to play with.
Same thing with movies, and there are tabs for sharing content of social media and accessing data from other PCs. The key feature for most will be using the tablet like a giant gaming table, for digital Monopoly, or air hockey (for which you use special rubber sensor paddles that slide across the display) or a dozen other options, including some that rely on special e-dice that you roll on the table or suction cup joysticks. Somewhat crucial to the Horizon experience is a sturdy, optional stand that smoothly tilts the screen, is height adjustable and has wheels ($200).
While we doubt many of these will actually end up making it into homes when released this summer (for around $1,700), we do like that Lenovo is attempting to innovate around the already stale design standards of tablets and think some version of the Horizon could eventually be a big success.

CES 2013: Coby's $130 Android Tablet

Coby is showing its first Google-certified, sub-$130 7-inch Android Tablet at CES
Hardware is important when it comes to tablets, but what good is hardware if you don't have any software to run on it? Coby's new 7-inch MID7065 tablet runs Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and costs just $129.99, but the biggest news is that it's also Google-certified, which means it has access to the Google Play app store.
Coby MID7015, which has full access to Google Play, as well as Google apps, including Chrome, Gmail, Google Maps, and YouTube.

From a hardware perspective, the tablet is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GBof RAM. It's a Wi-Fi-only tablet, and uses Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR to connect with compatible devices. It comes with 8GB of internal storage, and it's expandable up to an additional 32GB via microSD card. There's a front-facing VGA camera and accelerometer and gyroscope sensors for motion detection.
The 7-inch screen features just a 1024-by-600-pixel resolution, which gives it somewhat of a budget look, but the build quality of the tablet actually feels quite solid. There's an HDMI port on the bottom of the tablet, which lets you easily connect it to a monitor or HDTV.
Overall, the Coby MID7065 is a fairly generic Android tablet. What it all comes down to is price. The Kindle Fire HD $199.00 at Amazon and Google Nexus 7 $259.99 at Adorama may offer up better features like sharper displays, more storage, and more processing power. But that sub-$130 price point is sure to sway some buyers Coby's way. And while the MID7065 may not be the best bet for your money, at least you're getting full access to Google's apps this time around.
