Amazon Kindle fire HD 7 And 8.9 Launces in India, Starts selling June 27

Amazon announced the range of Kindle Fire HD tablets going for sale in India. Both the 8.9-inch version and the 7-inch version of the tablet will be available through the company’s India website.
The Kindle Fire HD has a 7-inch (1280×720 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz TI OMAP4460 Dual Core CPU. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ has a 8.9-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) display with 254 ppi. Both these tablets have Dolby audio with dual stereo speakers for immersive, virtual surround sound and Dual-band WiFi with dual-antennas / MIMO for 40% faster throughput than other tablets. These run on a forked version of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

  • 1.5 GHz dual-core OMAP4470 CPU with 299 MHz PowerVR SGX544 GPU
  • 8.8 mm thick and weighs 567 grams
  • Dual-band WiFi 802.11 b/g/n with dual-antennas / MIMO which is 40% faster
  • 3.5 mm stereo jack, micro USB, Micro-HDMI
  • Bluetooth with A2DP
  • Integrated stereo speakers with exclusive Dolby audio engine
  • 16GB / 32GB , No micro SD slot
  • Up to 10 hours of battery life
It is noteworthy here, that these tablets run on a modified version of Android 4.0.3 and features Amazon’s own Appstore instead of Google’s PlayStore. That shouldn’t be a big concern though, given that Amazon has a huge collection of apps on its Appstore.
