Xolo Launched A500S, 4" display, Android 4.2 for INR 6,999

Xolo, the brand name under which Lava releases their smartphones in India has launched its cheapest smartphone in the Xolo line-up. After launching flagship devices, the war has once again intensified in the entry-level segment and we are not surprised at Xolo’s launch.
Xolo A500S is currently the cheapest Xolo phone available in the market today as the predecessor Xolo A500 has been discontinued. Xolo A500S comes with certain enhancements over the previous model and with just a slight hike in price.

The most impressive change is the OS. Xolo A500S comes with Android Jelly Bean version 4.2. That is so far the latest as Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is yet to debut on a smartphone. The display size is a 4-inches TFT screen. Xolo A500S comes with a display resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and pixel density of 233 Pixels Per Inch (PPI). The device is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM and a Mali-400 MP GPU for boosting graphics. The device is based on MediaTek's chipset, MT 6572W.
It includes a 5-megapixel rear camera accompanied by an LED flash and a VGA front facing camera. The rear camera can record videos up to 720p resolution. The Xolo A500S runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It also includes 4GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB through microSD card. It is a dual SIM device with support for GSM+GSM with dual standby. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, 3G, and Micro-USB. Other features include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and AGPS. The Xolo A500S is backed by a 1400mAh battery.
The device will be available in four colour options- Black, Blue, Red & White.
Xolo seems to be targeting the budget Android segment with the A500S. The latest smartphone is believed to be a successor to the Xolo A500 which is now available for Rs. 6,499 at online retailers.
Last month, Xolo launched the Play T1000 smartphone powered by Tegra 3 quad-core processor for Rs. 15,999.
The Xolo Play T1000 features a 4.7-inch HD display. The highlight of the device is its 1.5 GHz Tegra 3 quad-core processor which comes with a 12-core GeForce GPU and 1GB RAM. The phone comes with internal storage of 4GB which can be further expanded up to 32GB. The device sports an 8.0-megapixel rear camera and a 2.0-megapixel front camera. It comes with full HD1080p video recording and playback capabilities. Other major features include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS support. The phone comes with a 2,000mAh battery.

Lava Iris 501 Now gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update

Lava has announced the Jelly Bean update for their Android smartphone, the Iris 501 (also known as Iris N501). It was launched earlier this year for Rs. 9,999, now the phone is available for Rs. 7,999. The Iris 501 runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and company launched the Iris 502 recently for Rs. 8,499 that runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) out of the box, which is now available for Rs. 7,499. The company usually announces a new phone every Friday in their promotion Blockbuster Phoneday.
This is definitely a great news for the Iris 501 users. Indian smartphone companies such as Micromax and Salora recently rolled out the Jelly Bean update for their smartphone recently.
It has a 5-inch (480 × 800 pixels) display, has dual SIM support and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core MediaTek processor. It has a 5MP auto focus camera with LED Flash, 0.3MP front-facing camera, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, expandable memory up to 32GB with microSD and packs a 2300 mAh battery.
Current Lava Iris 501 users can get their devices upgraded to the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) at any of Lava’s service centre across India free of cost.

Lava Announced Iris 455 with 4.5-inch display, 1GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.1

Lava has launched the Iris 455, a new Android smartphone in the Iris Series on Blockbuster Phoneday.
If there ever is an award for launching the most number of smartphones, it would definitely go to Lava. Give this Indian manufacturer another year or so and it might have more phones in its inventory than companies like LG ever made. The latest addition to its lineup is the IRIS 455. The phone is expected to go on sale in the coming days.
There’s nothing special about IRIS 455 and it comes with the same specs we’ve been typing over and over and over. The phone comes with a 4.5-inch qHD display along with a 1GHz dual-core processor. There’s also 512MB RAM, 5 megapixel camera, VGA front camera and a 1500mAh battery. The phone offers 4 GB internal storage along with support for dual SIM connectivity. It runs Android 4.1 out of the box and that’s pretty much there is to reveal about this phone.
The price hasn’t been disclosed yet, but expect it to be around Rs 8,000.

Lava IRIS 455 key specifications:
  • 4.5 inch display, 540 x 960 pixels
  • 1GHz dual core processor
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Lava Etab Connect, 3G calling tablet launched

Etab Connect is the first SIM based 3G calling tab which comes with 1 GHz single core Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, 7 inch display and Android 4.0 OS.
Lava, which has announced to launch one device each every Friday, has today launched a 3G calling tablet called Lava Etab Connect. It is priced below Rs 10,000 mark.
Spokesperson of Lava Mobile said to The Mobile Indian,"This tablet is the first of the series of SIM based tablets from Lava which will run on Google Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system."
According to an official communication from Lava, received by The Mobile Indian, the Etab Connect is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and will have a W VGA (800x480 pixels) resolution based 7 inch screen, 512 MB RAM and an internal memory of 4 GB. Besides, the tablet has a 2 megapixel camera at the back and a VGA camera in the front.
The Lava Etab Connect is powered by 3000 mAh battery which is small for a tablet and we do not expect more than 3-4 hours of browsing on the tablet on a single charge.
Less than Rs 10,000 pricing for this tablet looks attractive as most of the calling tablets priced below this level support only 2G networks and for 3G, people need dongles. Most 3G calling tablets are priced in the range slightly above Rs 10,000 mark.
