Sony Xperia Z Ultra with 6.44-inch Full HD display, 2.2 GHz quad-core processor announced

For good or ill, the oversized smartphone trend shows no signs of abating. In fact, Sony's just taken it to the next level with the Xperia ZUltra — a new smartphone with a simply monstrous 6.4-inch, 1080p screen. Despite the huge panel and respectable 3,000mAh battery (which it surely needs to power that massive screen), the phone is also extremely thin at only 6.5mm and weighs 212 grams. That's thinner than the iPhone 5, but also twice as heavy — we'll have to see how these dimensions feel when you're holding Sony's supersized phone. Other noteworthy features include a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon  800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage plus a microSD slot, Android 4.2, and an 8-megapixel camera.

  • 6.4 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display with X-Reality for Mobiles

Sony announced the water-proof Sony XperiaZR as an extension of the flagship Sony Xperia Z. While the flagship device is water resistant and dust-proof, Sony Xperia ZR lets users click images from under the water. The phone received a positive response on launchand looks like the device is all set to debut soon in India.
Sony Xperia ZR is listed online on most e-commerce sites and the estimated launch date is 15th June. The phone will be delivered within 1-2 days of shipping.

Sony Xperia ZR comes with a 4.6-inch HD Reality LCD screen and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Sony Xperia ZR comes with a new display technology named ‘OptiContrast’ panel which removes the gap between the screen and the touch sensor by integrating the sensor on the main panel itself. Under the hood Sony Xperia ZR runs a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor. The phone comes with an internal memory of 8 GB which is expandable to 32 GB using a MicroSD card slot (up to 32 GB). The phone comes with a 2 GB RAM. The specifications are all in keeping with Sony Xperia Z and Sony has not skimped on the processor or the RAM with the Xperia ZR.
While the specifications match other phonemakers’ flagship models, there is one stark difference which sets the Sony Xperia ZR apart and might make it a winner. The camera. Sony Xperia ZR comes with a 13 MP rear end camera with Exmor RS. The camera comes with 16x digital zoom with auto-focus. The front-camera is a basic VGA resolution camera. Like the Xperia Z, Xperia ZR also comes with a dedicated camera shutter button on the side of the camera. Combined with its dedicated camera key, thewaterproof capabilities let you shoot videos in Full HD or snap pictures underwater, capturing the sharpest visuals. Sure sounds exciting!

Sony Xperia Z tablet revealed its Price

Sony's slimmest, lightest tablet in the world, Xperia Z is set to hit retail stores in May .  The official pricing of the high-end slate has been under wraps, but with the pricing for UK and other key European countries out, it is not hard to ballpark the pricing for India.
The Sony Xperia Z tablet will be available in two variants, with the price of 16GB Wi-Fi (SGP311) model expected to be Rs 35,000 approximately and the 32GB version (SGP312) slightly higher at Rs 37,000. Both the models will come in black, although only the 32GB version will be available in white.
The powerful tablet boasts of 1.5 GHz quad-core APQ 8064 Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, Android's4.1.2 operating system and 6000 mAh battery life. What's amazing is that this heavy-duty 10.1-inch tablet, weighs under 500 grams and is just 6.9mmthick.
The slate also boasts of  water and dust proof properties like its high-end sibling, Xperia Z smartphone . It also flaunts a primary 8.1-megapixel snapper and a  2.2-megapixel secondary camera along with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. On the connectivity front we have NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
While Sony has had not so successful run in the tablet category, its latest offering may just mark its return to the Android tablet market.
 Stay tuned for more.

Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL Now Available for Purchase in India

Sony finally released the Xperia Z and theXperia ZL at a press event held today. The Indian market was a good cash source for the company until now, but mostly with the entry-level and mid-range handsets. Sony is probably hoping to have the same success with its flagships, as well. And lets face it, the Sony Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL are premium devices that would meet the needs of any user, if he has the money for them. Curiously, the Japanese company has launched both smartphones at the same time in India, while on other markets only one of them has arrived, depending on the region.
The Xperia Z and Xperia ZL are quite similar when it comes to technical specs. Both phones are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core1.5 GHz CPU, they include 2 GB RAM, a 5-inch full HD display, 16 GB of on-board storage space which can be expanded via microSD card, a 13 megapixel rear-facing snapper and a 2 megapixel camera in the front. Of course, there are a few difference between them, with the Xperia Z boasting a 2,330 mAh battery, while the Xperia Z comes with a 2,370 one. Also, the Sony Xperia ZL has a more compact appearance and a dedicated camera button. On the other hand, the Sony Xperia Z features a nice tempered-glass finish which provides a big advantage meaning that is dust and water proof.
There is a difference between the two smartphones whet it comes to pricing, as well. While the Xperia Z will be available for Rs 38,990 (~$750), the Xperia ZL will be cheaper at Rs 35,990 (~$692). The company also stated that the people who will purchase the Xperia Z will receive 8 GB free data from Vodafone, the offer being available for two months . The plan also comes with 6-month free access to the Sony Jive video and music streaming apps. As for the price tags, there are not so bad considering that the HTC One will surely be sold for more money, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S4 which will be launched soon.
Both Xperia Z and Xperia ZL are available for pre-order at online retailer Flipkart for Rs. Rs 38,990 and Rs 35,990, respectively, and as of March 12 the devices will hit the Sony retail shops.
But there is more good news for the people in India, as Sony announced that its latest tablet, the Xperia Tablet Z, will be released in two months. Sadly, the company hasn’t offered anymore details about the tablet, such as the exact date when it will be launched or how much it will cost.
Now, the Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL are both great smartphones. Which one to choose? It’s all up to your preferences and how much money are you willing to spend.

Sony Xperia Z (Yuga) Official image leaks

The Sony Xperia Z will enter the arena with other phones with 5” 1080p screens this year but it also puts Sony into the quad-core race with its Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset. The Z will come out with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at launch.
The Xperia Z packs a 12MP camera, which reportedly performs better than the 13MP shooter on the Xperia T. There's a dedicated shutter key.

2012 is gone and Sony is gearing up to announce its flagship Android phones for the new year. Two official images managed to slip through the cracks before the January 7 press conference, those of the Sony Xperia Z and the Xperia Odin.
Both images are hosted on SonyMobile.com and in the case of the Xperia Z, the image filename confirms the name (the phone used to be known by its ‘Yuga’ codename).
