BBM now available for Android 2.3 Gingerbred

BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) is now available for Android smartphones which are running on Gingerbread, True their promise, BlackBerry has just made its messaging, and now voice call, app available to more Android users.

However, from the time of release until now, BBM for Android has been available only on Android 4.0+ devices and with Android Gingerbread 2.3 still accounting for 20% of Android users, a lot of people were left without access to BBM. BlackBeery had stated that they were working hard to bring BBM for Gingerbread users and they have lived up to their word.

For BlackBerry it is a smart move to try and expand its user base on Android by offering the BBM app to more Android users. BBM app for Android and iOS saw over 20 million new users within the first week of its launch.

Some of the features that the users of Android 2.3 Gingerbread will not be able to use includes – BBM’s Voice Call, Live location tracking on Map and BBM Channels. There is no word on whether these features will be addressed in the coming version or not, but we sure do hope they will instate the features.

Rise alarm clock - iOS App of the Week, available for free to download

Rise alarm clock named iOS App of the Week, available for free download
If for whatever reason the default alarm clock in iOS isn't doing it for you, Rise happens to be one of our favorite third-party substitutes. And this week, Apple is giving away the app —normally $1.99—at no charge as part of its revolving App of the Week promotion. Rise's dead-simple interface (you slide a finger up or down your iPhone's screen to set a wake-up time) and elegant design make its normal price easy to part with, but when it's up for grabs at no cost to you, we're pressed to find any reason why you shouldn't give it a shot. You may be thankful you did starting tomorrow morning.

Download google play paid apps for free

How to Download Paid Android Games & Applications For Free

This post is exclusively for Android users who are addicted to Games and Applications. In this post i am going to explain 3 different ways on how you can get Paid Android Games and Applications for free. Here is the look at these ways:

1. File sharing Websites: - The best way to download Android games and applications for free is through file sharing websites. The files to be downloaded on those websites were done by Android users who download paid applications and upload them in file sharing websites. The best popular file sharing websites are:

Out of all the File Sharing Websites, I recommend 4shared; simply it is the best and most popular with loads of cool Applications and Games.

Steps to Download Paid Applications from Those Websites
a. Just log on to any of the above listed websites
b. Type the application name you want to download for free in their search bar and
c. Add the extension of “.apk”, for example if you want to download ADW Launcher EX (A paid app in Google play Store), type Adw launcher ex.apk and press enter. The results will then be viewed, from the results click the latest uploaded file and just download it. Once the .apk file is downloaded, transfer it to your phone via USB cable and install it in your phone.

Note: I recommend you must scan downloaded apps with this method with antivirus. You can also download 4shared application from the market instead of searching applications in the web; you can use it directly to download any files.

2. BlackMart Alpha App: - BlackMart Alpha is an Android application itself, used for downloading paid applications for free. You need to search for BlackMart Alpha in the above mentioned file sharing sites, Search results will appear, Locate and Download this application, Transfer and install it on your Smart phone. After installation, open the BlackMart Alpha application, it has the same design like that of the Google Play Market App on your Smart phone. A list of applications will appear in it. You can also use the search option to search and download a paid application for Free with BlackMart Alpha.
The price of the specified or searched application will strike out. Click on download and install it directly to your Smart phone for free.

Note: Don’t update any application you downloaded from BlackMart Alpha as there are chances that it might corrupt that application.

3. Paying for Application in Google Play Market: - The last tip which is most reliable and the best way to download the paid applications are by paying for an application in the Google Play market. To use this option you should have a good file explorer application like ASTRO File Manager or ES File Explorer with a good/fast internet connection.

Install ES File Explorer or ASTRO File Manager If you don't have it yet on your Phone, Then
Go to Google Play market and purchase any application.
Within 15 minutes of the trial period you can get the full refund if you cancel the order.
The application gets downloaded to your Smart phone.
Open ES file explorer, Click on Options >> Manager >> App Manager.

Go to list of installed applications and click on the application you just purchased and click on the backup. The application backup will be made in the backup folder of your SD card.
Once the backup is made, cancel the order from the Google Play Store and install it from the backup folder again. Your money will be refunded after you cancel the order.
So these are the Surest Way I have been using to download any Paid Applications for free.

Enjoy!

A Free smartphone app to track weight loss

Researchers have developed a smartphone app as the sole method for monitoring weight loss.
The My Meal Mate app allows users to monitor their food intake and exercise, set a weight loss target and sends a weekly update on progress via text message.
The smartphone app was used on average every other day in the trial, whilst the average use of the website and paper diary was about once a week.
As a result, over the 6 months of the study those using the app lost on average 4.6kg (10lbs), compared with the 2.9kg (6.5lbs) and 1.3kg (3lbs) lost by the paper-based and online diary users, respectively.
The Department of Health has calculated the direct costs of obesity on the NHS to be 5.1 billion pounds a year and an estimated 40,000 people die annually from conditions attributable to being overweight or obese.
"Smartphone technology could be harnessed to promote health; generally people don't know how many calories they are eating daily. My Meal Mate really helped people monitor their food intake and resulted in an important amount of weight loss," professor Janet Cade, from the School of Food Science and Nutrition, who lead the project, said.
"The labelling on food packaging can help people to identify sensible food choices but it doesn't enable them to understand the cumulative effects of the foods they eat. Keeping a food diary allows us to see where we might be eating too much and the app has proved to be the most effective tracking method by far," Professor Cade added.
Unlike other currently available smartphone apps that are aimed at helping people monitor food intake and lose weight, My Meal Mate is the first free app to contain a large UK-based food database.
This allows users to map their eating habits easily to the products they consume.
It is also the first such app to be hosted for download on the NHS Choices website.
The findings have been published in the Journal of Internet Medical Research.

Facebook Messenger app update brings Chat Heads support

Facebook Home is out today, and the standalone Messenger app update is  here, and it brings Chat Heads support to most Android devices, regardless of whether or not you have Home installed. That means that when you’re using other apps or on the home screen, Messenger messages will pop up with the Chat Head icon of the person messaging you, allowing you to quickly jump into a conversation without leaving your current app.

You can also dismiss the conversation by swiping down from a Chat Heads message. I’ve been testing the feature and it works well out of the gate, displaying multiple incoming conversations and letting you switch between them, over top of any other Android apps you may be using. The feature is a killer one, no doubt, and makes Messenger a lot more of a threat to other messaging apps out there, by placing your messages where they’re actually useful to you.
It’s a little like having Growl notifications on your Android device, but more useful since it actually doesn’t require you to switch apps to engage with the ongoing conversations. The only downside I can see is that if you get a lot of FB messages, you may feel a tad overwhelmed while trying to keep up, and it’s definitely a visual and auditory distraction. Luckily, you can disable Chat Heads in Messenger at any time from the app’s Settings menu.

Facebook Home Now Available On Google Play For HTC One X And X+, Samsung Galaxy S III and Note II

Facebook Home, the new Android-based launcher that puts the social network and its messaging, photo and other services front and center on a user’s mobile device, is now available for download on Google Play for a limited selection of Android devices: HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy S III and Samsung Galaxy Note II. ( if don't have these devices - bot to worry, Facebook Messaging app update bring chat head as same in FB home - Get it Now )
Facebook debuted Home earlier this month. At the time it announced that it would be available on Google Play from today. Home is also coming pre-installed on the HTC First: this has been available on pre-order since April 4 on AT&T, and is officially on sale with AT&T from today (with a little promotional help from Facebook itself). The HTC First will be hitting France and the UK this summer via France Telecom’s Orange and its EE JV in the UK.

Home is Facebook’s strongest swing yet at mobile, and points to the company’s ambition to be a platform for all of your communications, ever present, no matter what else you are doing: “the next version of Facebook,” in the words of CEO Mark Zuckerberg. (Other moves, such as this quiet acquisition of stealth startup Osmeta, point to how this may extend beyond just Android, too.)
This means that, while Home is still limited in how many people can use it — just the HTC First, along with four other devices (albeit including two handsets from the world’s biggest smartphone maker, Samsung) — and is limited in its functionality (no ads… yet), if things go to plan for Facebook, this is just the beginning.

Foursquare V6.0 Update Brings check-in button, easier Explore and more

Foursquare has launched a major update to its iOS app, rethinking the location-based service as a discovery tool instead of primarily a way to see what your friends are doing. Search is much more prominent in the app, and it suggests nearby attractions as soon as you open it.
The New York-based company that pioneered location-based apps says it redesigned the app based on its data — which includes 3.5 billion check-ins over the past four years — to find out the"most interesting things going on around you."

Foursquare 6.0 is organized into four main parts:

  • Search, which is front and center when you open the app.
  • A map that highlights nearby friends and "interesting" places.
  • A revamped feed with your friends' check-ins from around the world, with personalized recommendations mixed in.
  • A brand-new, and extremely prominent, check-in button (see below).
In a blog post , Foursquare explains that its recommendation engine is designed for people who don't have time to sift through dozens of reviews when they're looking for a place to have lunch. The top places are always at the top of your results when you perform a search.
Similar to other current social apps, Foursquare 6.0 makes the app's navigation accessible by swiping from the left. Notifications are in the top right — exactly like the most recent update to the Google+ app .

Download free From iTunes Store

Have you browsed the new Foursquare yet? What do you think of the update? Let us know in the comments.

Facebook Home for Android Announced , Available April 12

Facebook today announced its brand new Android Launcher called Facebook Home which will serve as a gateway to the social network’s services. The launcher is meant to replace the default skin on your Android device and hooks in with Facebook centric services. Predictably, the focus here is on sharing and keeping a track of whatever your friends are up to.

While the application itself will be receiving regular feature updates every month, Facebook has focussed on a few areas in the initial reveal. Cover Feed is a lockscreen replacement that pulls in data from Facebook and displays it directly on the lockscreen. It lets you flip through stories and double tap to like. The system should be handy to quickly browse through information while standing in a queue or similar.

Chat heads is an interesting feature wherein users can continue conversations with friends even using other applications. The chat head float above whatever you are working on and can be moved around. This component of the launcher ties in with both Facebook messenger and the SMS application on the device.

Facebook Home will launch on Google Play on April 12 for a select number of smartphones, initially - the Samsung Galaxy S4, S III and Note II and the HTC One and One X+. It appears to act as any launcher out there. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the team behind Facebook Home worked hard to make it feel better than just any other app, which means we can expect Home to work seamlessly or like a native app.

IPL 6 Must Have App's To Enjoy Live Scores & Streaming

What is the best way to celebrate the second anniversary of India's second successful World Cup victory? With song, dance, cine and cricket stars, and quite obviously quick-fire cricket matches. As the sixth edition of IPL kick-starts tonight, here are a few apps that will help you stay glued on to all the action as it happens.
 Schedules, Points Table, And Stats
Since T20 matches aren't too long (it just takes around 3 hours per game), there are chances that you may miss out on some of the matches, especially those airing in the afternoon. As the tournament progresses, you can use these apps that not only give you match results, but also keep you abreast with match schedules, team and player stats, and the all-important points table.
While there isn't one single developer offering apps across different mobile platforms, here are a few options you can look at.

Watch It Live on MobileIf the matches aren't being played in your city, or you find them a bit too out of your budget, then it'll be a better idea to watch live telecast instead. nexGTv , which is available to both Android and iOS platforms will stream all the 76matches live along with highlights and re-runs on a video-on-demand section.
If your handset supports Flash, then you can also turn to IPL on YouTube to catch all the action live. This is a great option especially when you are stuck at office with primitive HR policies.
Download now available free for all Devices

IPL 2013 Schedule & Scores for AndroidFor the Android users the IPL 2013 Schedule & Scores is a handy app to have. Apart from schedules, and scores, it also gives you access to live matches (from the YouTube channel) and IPL-based tweets sorted by teams. In fact the app also lets you create reminders on your device so that you don’t miss out on any of your favorite team's matches.
Available for free at Google Play store.

IPL for Windows DeviceA similar app called IPL is available for the Windows Phone platform. Download now

IPL 2013 for iPhone and iPad - Those using an iDevice though will need to get multiple apps to get all of these features. For match reminders, along with schedules, there is the IPL 2013 .
You can set reminders and share match schedule via email or SMS with your friends. But the app does nothing beyond that.
Available for free at iTunes

BCCI Official App -  If you can live without the reminders option, the official BCCI app is a better alternative. That way you can know about all the cricket action that is happening anywhere in the world.

The app is available for both Android and iOS platforms.

IPL Dugout - If you plan to get together with a few like-minded cricket-loving pals and enjoy matches in a stadium, then you'd probably want to know which game is being played in your city when, and where you can go grab a bite after the matches get over.
That is where an app such as IPL Dugout can come to your rescue. However, the app which is available for both the iOS and Android platforms seems to be frozen in 2012 for now. Let's just hope that the app developers decide to give it a new lease of life before IPL6 goes underway.
Available free for Android and iOS
