Facebook announced the Facebook Home last week that comes pre-installed with the HTC First. It is expected to launch on Google Play for select Android devices on April 12th, but the pre-release version has been leaked ahead online.
Mobile news site
MoDaCo obtained a copy of a pre-release build of Facebook Home from an HTC First
ROM . The site reports that the installation is "rather buggy and
incomplete" and it couldn't get the platform's Chat Heads to work.
However, many of Facebook Home's other features
were accessible, and MoDaCo published photos of the application in action. For
those who want to take the risk of running pre-release software, MoDaCo is
offering it up on its site.
To start using the Facebook Home leak,
Android handset owners must have a device running with a maximum resolution of
1,280 x 768. They also must completely uninstall their existing Facebook
application before running Home. MoDaCo says that Facebook Home will work on
Google's Nexus devices.
Facebook unveiled Facebook Home last week . The
platform is essentially a suite of apps that delivers an entire Facebook
experience to the smartphone and sits atop Android as a "skin."
Facebook Home is designed to fully integrate the social network's key features
into Android.
Facebook Home's official launch is slated for
April 12.
