Noble Nutlings is the
game Bad Piggies should have been. Put together by former Rovio employees, it's
as addictive as you would expect but goes beyond the more staid and slow
gameplay of a typical Rovio game.
Noble Nutlings is what happens when the gloves
come off and those talented app developers are allowed to run riot. Think of it
like Trials Evolution and you'll have a good idea of how it plays. So should
you download it?

The game works on a
fairly simple premise. You build a car from parts and then negotiate
increasingly difficult tracks while trying to stop your creation from tipping
over. You can tilt the car left and right as well as accelerate and boost it.
This can be done with on-screen controls or by using the accelerometer. We
prefer the on-screenoption.
Parts for your car cost coins, which you acquire
by collecting acorns with it during each level - the more acorns, the more
coins. Some later levels will be near impossible without the better parts for
your vehicle, so you have to invest in getting the most acorns possible from
each level before you progress.
There's also the
option to buy coins with in-app purchases, but we didn't find it necessary
provided we took our time.
The gameplay really is what matters here. Noble
Nutlings isn't as complex as Bad Piggies and nor does it quite have the refined
tactics of Angry Birds, but this is a very different game. It is exciting and
frustrating, built to have you coming back to each level until you get those
elusive three stars and every acorn.
